BERKELEY HALL CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

Making a Difference Locally

The Berkeley Hall community has a rich history of philanthropy in the Lowcountry. Our Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation’s vision is to "Make a difference by addressing the basic human needs of the greater Bluffton Community, especially those who are most vulnerable."

Our vision has been brought to life through the generosity and commitment of the Berkeley Hall membership and the desire to make a difference in our community.  Since its inception in 2008, BHCF has made 80 grants totaling nearly $850,000 through the extraordinary support of the Berkeley Hall membership.  We are honored to help these worthy organizations make important strides in improving the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors.

“Our mission is to make a difference locally, and we are immensely thankful to the compassion and generosity of the Berkeley Hall membership, which has made these grants possible.”
— Jim McCarl, BHCF Chairman

The Berkeley Hall Charity Cup is the signature fundraising event enabling our Charitable Foundation to help address the needs of our greater Bluffton community.

The Berkeley Hall Charitable Fund (BHCF) was established in 2010 under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located on Hilton Head Island. In 2014 the BHCF Fund established its own 501(c)(3) and is now administered by a voluntary Board of Trustees and the Berkeley Hall Board of Directors.

Grant Process

The money which is raised from member donations, Charity Cup events, and other BHCF fundraising is awarded to local nonprofit organizations through a rigorous grant application and evaluation process.  The grant cycle begins in late spring when the grant application is made available on the Berkeley Hall website.
